The Aviator (2004) - What You Need To Know About It

There are many voices that tell that Leonardo di Caprio should have been awarded with an Oscar for his role in The Aviator movie, a 2004 production directed by Martin Scorsese, who also featured famous people like Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Gwen Stefany and Jude Law.

The whole movie was based on a 1993 book written by Charles Higham, in which was told the story of Howard Hughes, one of the first American aviators and aerospace engineers, but also one of the richest men in the 40’s.

The movie’s premiere was organized on December 14, 2004 and was afterwards released 10 days later, on the Christmas day. “The Aviator” was one of the most successful productions of the year, with a box office that reached $213,7 million. In 2005, the movie won 5 Academy Awards, paradoxically for the best actress in a supporting role, but not one for the best actor.

As for the plot, the story begins with a nine year old Hower Hughes, a sickly kid who lives in Houston with his mother, but who is obsessed with having success and with flying planes. Later in his life, he becomes a successful movie director, but also develops an obsessive-compulsive disorder that affects his life. Luckily, Katharine Houghton Hepburn, who was one of the most famous actresses at Hollywood at that time, was there for him. One thing leads to another, and Hughes successfully tests the H-1 Racer plane and later even sets a world record by traveling around the world in 4 days. From that point on, although he will earn a lot of money, his personal life will go on a perpetual downside: Katharine Hepburn will break up with him, he will be investigated by the FBI for war profiteering and even by the Senate and he’ll suffer a lot of psychological trauma.

The movie ends with him having flashbacks about his childhood in which he remembers how much he had always wanted to be successful. If you have 210 minutes, “The Aviator” is a great movie, although it is a bit hard to follow if you’re not familiar with Howard’s Huge story.

The Whistleblower Movie Will Keep You Glued To On Your TV Screen

Movies are the best way to keep one relaxed when idle. For those who love thrillers, ?the whistleblower movie’ is a movie I would recommend without hesitation. After watching a sneak peak of it on tv I had to be among the first people to buy it. After watching it, I must say that it is one of the best movies I have watched in a long time. Rachel Weisz acting as Kathryn Bolkovac is the main character in this movie. Before the film is produced, Kathryn gets a chance to work with the UN international police whereby she helps spread peace in a place called Bosnia.

While on her mission, Rachel discovers that young girls are kidnapped and sold as sex slaves. They are raped and tortured badly. She then tries to inform her employers of what’s going on, on the ground but the shock is on her when her superiors don’t act on the matter. She insists again and again that something should be done but instead gets fired. This is because they are aware of what’s going on and they always find a way to cover their tracks. However, this does not deter her from doing all she can to rescue these women. In the scene we see Kathryn digs deep into the matter and finds out where the girls are hidden and forced into sexual activities in night pubs. The passports of these women are even taken away to prevent them from ever going back to their homelands. In an interview Rachel actually says that what the movie show is just a sneak peak of what actually happened when she went for the actual mission to expose the severity of sex slave on young girls in Bosnia. There are more atrocious acts that take place in the real scene. Even though the film does not portray the exact scenes as they happened, I still think that it did well in raising awareness about sex trafficking. It is no wonder it has a lot of awards in the film industry. This movie may be a little old in terms of release date but the message can’t grow old. Fact is, sex trafficking is illegal and must be stopped!
